Do you want to enhance your skills or those of your employees to improve the operation or competitiveness of your company? Get a training allowance! You will be reimbursed 40% to 70% of your costs. Note: you have to apply for the allowance at least one month before training starts.

What are the requirements?

FOR WHAT TYPE OF PROJECT?

You can receive an allowance to cover part of the training expenses for any of your company’s employees, except for interim staff and students.

THE TRAINING MUST:

  • improve your company's operation or growth
  • last six months at most
  • be exceptional or urgent

EXCLUDED:

  • training on daily, usual or recurring management
  • training on investments
  • training on medical practices
  • training taken to comply with training obligations
  • conferences and seminars

THE TRAINER:

  • the trainer’s primary occupation must be training as meant by NACE code 85
  • they must have at least two years of experience
  • they must be independent of the company
  • they cannot have provided training for your company in the past two years
What is the amount granted?

The amount provided depends on several criteria. 

HOW TO CALCULATE THE ALLOWANCE

Allowance rate for registration fees and the cost of written educational materials

Language, management, marketing, technical, legal and other training:

  • 40% (if none of the criteria below are met)
  • 50% (if one criterion below is met)
  • 60% (if two or more of the criteria below are met)

Circular economy training:

  • 60% for medium-size companies
  • 70% for micro and small companies
Maximum allowance for all State aid combined for the same expenses
  • Micro or small company: 70%
  • Medium-size company: 60%
  • Maximum training allowance
  • Micro or small company:€10,000/calendar year
  • Medium-size company: €15,000/calendar year
Minimum allowance per training/request €500 
Maximum number of allowances Five subsidised training courses per calendar year

 

Criteria

Starter: +10% Your company has been registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises for at least four years.
Social enterprise: +10% Your company is approved as a social enterprise at the time you apply for the allowance
Ask for your “social enterprise certification
Circular company: +10% Your company is recognised as a company “involved in the circular economy” at the time you apply for the allowance (first form).
Request your “circular economy certification” at least three months before you apply for the allowance.
Priority sector: +10%

Your main business activity is in one of the following sectors:

  • industry and crafts (NACE-BEL codes 10110 to 33200 and 95)
  • management of the environment (NACE-BEL codes 37000 to 39000)
  • hospitality and tourism (NACE-BEL codes 55100 to 56309 and 79)
  • retail (NACE-BEL codes 47111 to 47990)
  • building renovations: installation and finishing work (NACE-BEL codes 43211 to 43999)
  • information and communications technology (ICT) (NACE-BEL codes 59, 60100 to 62090 and 631)
  • research and development (NACE-BEL codes 72110 to 72200).

 

How to apply?

PHASE 1: BEFORE TRAINING

Complete and send in the form (see “links: form and payment” below) at the latest one month before training starts. You must include several appendixes with your application. After you submit your request, Brussels Economy and Employment will send you an acknowledgement of receipt for your file within one month maximum.

PHASE 2: TRAINING STARTS

PHASE 3: ALLOWANCE PAYMENT

You will have three months to send in your invoice and proof of payment to Brussels Economy and Employment after training ends.
Brussels Economy and Employment will pay the allowance in one payment.
