Enterprises active in the food chain must make themselves known to the AFSCA before starting their activity and be registered. Moreover, certain activities cannot be exercised without an authorisation or an approval. However, exemptions are sometimes possible if the food safety risk is deemed to be very low.
Any modification to, or termination of, the activity should also be reported to the AFSCA.
Following the publication of the registration, authorisation and accreditation can be requested via a form sent by post, e-mail, or fax, or presented in person to the Unité Provinciale de Contrôle (UPC) or the Local Control Unit. For operations based in the Brussels-Capital Region, it is the UPC Brussels.
Opening times: Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to midday and 1:00 pm to 4.30 pm
